What we actually do

Five services, one idea: you should understand every protection product you pay for — before the money leaves your hands. We are advisors and guides, not an insurer or warranty underwriter. We don't sell the products; we read them.

Extended Warranty Guidance

What's worth it, what isn't. "Extended warranties" are really service contracts — separate from your car's manufacturer warranty, sold by dealers and independent companies, with prices and coverage that vary widely. That's the FTC's own plain-English breakdown, and it's the starting point for everything we do.

We read the full contract — exclusions, deductibles, where repairs must be done, who's actually backing the promise — and tell you, in plain English, whether it's worth your money. Sometimes it is. Often, the answer is "keep the cash and fix the car yourself."

GAP Coverage Advice

The gap that can swallow your savings. If your car is totaled or stolen, standard insurance pays its current value — not what you owe. GAP is the optional product meant to cover that difference. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau explains how GAP works, including the catch: dealer prices vary greatly, and the cost is often rolled into your loan.

We check whether you actually have a gap to cover (down payment, loan term, depreciation all matter), compare where to buy it cheapest, and tell you when to skip it entirely.

Insurance Policy Review & Comparison

Same coverage, less money — or same money, better coverage. You send us your current declarations page. We translate it into human language: what each line actually covers, where you're over-insured, where you're exposed.

Then we line up comparable quotes side by side — deductibles, limits, exclusions, the works — so you're choosing with eyes open, not guessing between numbers you don't understand.

Claims Navigation Help

A denied claim is not the last word. When something breaks, gets dented, or gets stolen, we help you document, file, follow up, and push back. We read the denial letter the way the company hopes you won't — line by line.

We can't make a carrier pay what the contract doesn't owe. But we can make sure you get everything the contract does owe you, without the runaround.

New core service

Insurance shopping & renewal negotiation

"We'll shop your car insurance and negotiate it down" — the same playbook as a purchase negotiation, applied to your premium.

1. We review your current policy

You send us your declarations page. We translate every line into plain English — what you actually carry, what it actually covers, and where you're paying for protection that overlaps or protection you don't need.

2. We shop competing carriers

We line up comparable coverage from competing carriers, side by side — premiums, deductibles, limits, exclusions. Same coverage class, so the comparison is apples to apples, not sticker shock to sticker shock.

3. We negotiate your renewal

Renewal quote went up for no reason you can see? We take the competing numbers back to your current carrier and push. Sometimes they move. Sometimes the honest answer is that it's time to switch.

Honest about thin margins

Here's the truth: insurance margins are thin, and not every policy has savings hiding in it. If your current rate is already the best one available, we'll tell you that — and charge you for the review, not a victory lap. We won't invent savings figures or promise a number we can't deliver.

What this service is not

  • Insurance advisory only. Shieldline is not a licensed insurance producer — we cannot quote, bind, or issue coverage ourselves.
  • Carrier terms and rates vary. Every quote is the carrier's, not ours, and rates move with underwriting, not with our opinions.
  • We don't take commissions. Nobody pays us to steer you to a carrier, which is exactly why our advice is worth reading.

What we don't do

Three lines we won't cross

We don't sell policies

We hold no carrier appointments and earn no commissions. Our fee comes from you, so our advice is for you.

We don't underwrite

We're not a warranty company and we don't back any product with our own money. Protection products come from licensed carriers.

We don't pressure

If the right answer is "do nothing," that's the recommendation. Walking away is free; our flat fee is quoted in writing before we start.
